Ailsa started her accountancy career at the age of 16 with a Wirral based accountancy practice. Having remained there for 10 years, she moved to a local accountancy practice as an accounts and audit senior where she worked for a further 8 years.
After a five year spell of self- employment Ailsa returned to her previous employers where she spent three years as Practice Manager.
In August 2013, Ailsa was recruited as Practice Manager by Langtons and has responsibility for the financial and management reporting for the practice.
Andy is a vastly experienced chartered accountant and business advisor with a particular focus on Corporate Finance. Andy has developed Langtons Corporate Finance into a niche adviser on business planning, acquisitions, disposals and raising finance: he and the team also undertake due diligence work for clients and funders.
Andy and the team will work closely with you to develop and grow your business. His hands-on approach in navigating and negotiating the best outcomes for clients has firmly established Langtons’ reputation as a provider of pragmatic and proactive advice.
Andy’s ability to distil complex matters into clear advice gives clients a fundamental sense of clarity and presents distinct choices to help them achieve their goals.
Ben joined the Langtons team in February 2019, having graduated with a masters degree in mathematics from the University of Liverpool.
From then Ben gained significant experience and knowledge working in the audit and accounts department and became a fully qualified ACA member in 2022. As of July 2024, he is now part of the Langtons Corporate Finance team.
Catherine joined the Langtons team in March 2017, having previously graduated from Imperial College London with a degree in Mathematics.
Catherine has since gained considerable knowledge of year end accounts preparation and audit, and became a fully qualified ACA member in February 2021.
Chris joined Langtons in 2018 having spent a number of years working in practice in Warrington. Chris largely deals with SME clients, providing practical advice on all day-to-day compliance matters, as well as a focus on management accounts and year-end compliance services.
Darren has recently joined Langtons with a remit of expanding the Langtons Tax practice and service offering.
Darren has gained significant experience at both Big 4 and independent firms, of working closely with owner managed businesses advising on a broad spectrum of tax issues. He also has a specialist interest in investment and innovation tax matters.
Eifion advises SME clients on systems, commercial and taxation matters across a range of sectors, including software development, manufacturing, engineering and haulage. His aim is to maximise his clients’ post tax income by combining their commercial expertise with his accounting and tax knowledge. He has a keen interest in science and technology, and advises several companies on R&D grants and tax credit claims.
He is a keen advocate of using computerised accounting systems to understand what drives a company’s results and generates profit. He has significant experience of implementing Sage, Xero, MS Dynamics and Pegasus Opera, and is Head of Langtons Systems Solutions.
Emily joined Langtons in 2018, having graduated with a mathematics degree from the University of Manchester and attaining a master’s degree from the University of Liverpool.
Emily became a fully qualified ACA member in January 2022 and provides audit and assurance services to our client base.
Helen joined Langtons in 2020 and became a fully qualified ACA member in January 2024.
After gaining experience in audit and account preparation, Helen now works in the Corporation Tax department as a Tax Executive.
Jo is often the first face visitors see and the first voice they hear when contacting Langtons. As Office Manager, she helps ensure the firm runs smoothly and that clients, colleagues and guests receive a warm, professional welcome. One of Langtons’ longest-serving team members, Jo recently celebrated 25 years with the firm, reflecting her commitment, experience and the important role she plays in everyday life at Langtons.
John’s IT career began with HM Customs & Excise in 1991. During the years prior to joining Langtons he has worked as an IT consultant for financial institutions, the Manchester Commonwealth Games and an IT support company. Having provided support to Langtons for a number of years, he joined the firm in 2006.
As well as responsibility for all things IT “in house” John also currently provides IT Strategy and Support for a number of Langtons’ clients, within the Langtons Systems Solutions team.
Having graduated from the University of Manchester with a degree in Mathematics, Josh joined Langtons in 2015 and completed his training with the firm to become ACA qualified whilst working in the Audit and Accounts team.
Josh gained significant experience in audit and year-end accounts preparation and now works in the Corporate Finance team.
Having graduated from the University of Sunderland with a degree in Accounting and Economics, Kerry went on to qualify at a local accountancy practice as a Certified Chartered Accountant in 2007.
She joined Langtons in 2013 with a wealth of experience in audit and year-end accounts preparation and also assists many of our clients with management accounts and projections.
Lisa started her first position working in Personal Tax soon after leaving Hugh Baird college in 1994 and has worked in Personal Tax since.
Lisa qualified as ATT in 1997 and, over the years, has gained a wealth of experience managing a varied portfolio of personal tax clients.
Having graduated at Liverpool John Moores University with a degree in Accounting and Finance, Liz went on to qualify at a local accountancy practice as a certified chartered accountant in 2002.
She joined Langtons in 2013 and has a wealth of experience in audit and accounts preparation.
Marie joined Langtons in January 2021 as a Senior Payroll Assistant having worked in payroll for over 15 years.
Starting as a payroll assistant for Sefton Council she then moved into the private sector working for several large firms including Shop Direct Group and Serco. After gaining vast experience in all aspects of large payrolls including TUPE transfers, redundancies and international payrolls she moved into practice in order to gain bureau experience. This has given Marie the skills to understand each individual payroll client’s needs irrelevant of the company’s size or background.
Matt graduated from Durham University in 2017 and joined the Langtons Audit and Accounts team, qualifying as a Chartered Accountant in 2021.
Matt is now a part of the Langtons Corporate Finance team.
Matthew joined Langtons in 2020 where he continued his AAT studies and became a fully qualified ACA member in December 2023.
Since joining, Matthew has gained considerable experience in the audit and accounts department and has furthered his knowledge of management accounts, VAT & bookkeeping.
Having graduated from the University of Liverpool with a degree in mathematics, Natalie joined Langtons in 2021 and completed her training with the firm to become a fully qualified ACA member in January 2024.
Paul has worked within payroll for over 25 years, gaining experience in a range of industries from FMCG, transport and warehousing to retail and wholesale pharmacy.
He started his payroll career in a small family business and has worked for some household names such as Princes Foods and Phoenix Group (which included Numark and Rowlands Pharmacy).
He brings with him a wealth of experience, having dealt with payrolls ranging from just 4 staff to over 6500.
He qualified with the CIPP in 2007 and joined Langtons in April 2013 as Payroll Bureau Manager.
Phil specialises in providing tax advice to corporate entities, including minimising corporate tax liabilities and identifying tax planning opportunities. He also manages a number of clients, offering practical business advice as well as a core focus on compliance services, with a particular focus on the education sector.
Phil graduated from the University of Durham with a degree in Modern Languages and joined Langtons in 2006, qualifying as a Chartered Accountant three years later. He completed his Chartered Tax Advisor examinations in 2012 and applied for full membership in 2018.
Ruby joined Langtons in 2021 with her AAT qualification and became a fully qualified ACA member in December 2023. Ruby largely deals with SME clients, providing practical advice on all day-to-day compliance matters, as well as year-end compliance services.
Having graduated from Liverpool John Moores University with a degree in Business Management and a master’s degree in Entrepreneurship and Management, Ryan joined Langtons in 2019 and became a fully qualified ACA member in January 2023.
Ryan specialises in the preparation of year end accounts and the audit of medium and large-sized companies.
Having graduated from the University of Liverpool in 2012 with a Masters in Classical and Ancient History, Sarah went on to qualify for ATT in 2016 and then CTA in 2018.
Sarah has a vast experience of managing a varied portfolio of personal tax clients as well as undertaking specialist tax advisory work.
Simon principally focuses on Corporate Finance transactions and has significant lead advisory and due diligence expertise assisting clients achieve their business goals. He primarily advises clients on acquisitions, disposals, MBOs and MBIs, fundraisings, valuations and due diligence.
Simon works closely with his clients to build an easy rapport and provides pragmatic and commercial advices to them both during and after the transaction process.
Having qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2004, Simon gained experience working at KPMG in a number of corporate disciplines including financial due diligence, corporate recovery and financial modelling prior to joining Langtons in 2008.
Simon has gained vast experience in providing compliance services to a significant portfolio of SME clients since joining Langtons from University in 1995 and qualifying as a Chartered Accountant in 1998.
Simon works closely with his clients to build strong and supportive relationships acting as a sounding board for his clients all year round and providing financial and commercial advice on an ongoing basis.
Simon’s principal focus is on overseeing the audit service for some of Langtons’ largest audit clients and he likes to add value to the audit by, for example, looking at how the audit process can be improved, advising on improvements to client controls and systems etc to ensure clients get tangible benefits from their audit.
Having graduated in 2021 from Liverpool John Moore’s University with a degree in Accounting and Finance, Sophie joined the Langtons team and began training towards the ACA qualification, passing her final exam in January 2025.
Steve advises on a wide-range of specialist tax planning opportunities to businesses and individuals alike, including supporting the corporate finance department in its acquisitions and disposals.
Following a consultation with you, Steve will use his extensive knowledge of tax legislation and its interaction with the practicalities of business to tailor a solution for you.
Steve also provides general financial direction to his portfolio of owner managed businesses, having qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1993 and as a Chartered Tax Advisor in 2000.
