We help you turn accounting, tax and financial information into clear, practical insight, so you can understand your business and make better decisions.
ExploreLangtons provides audit and assurance services for ambitious owner-managed businesses, directors, finance teams and boards who need clear, practical and professionally sound support. We help clients with statutory and regulatory audit, risk management, internal controls, technical accounting advisory and practical recommendations that can improve the financial reporting environment.
Whether your business needs an audit because of its size, structure, funding arrangements, shareholder requirements or regulatory position, we help make the process clear, well managed and commercially useful.
You may be managing a growing finance function, preparing for investment, dealing with group reporting, responding to lender or shareholder requirements, or navigating more complex accounting issues. You may also need an audit team that communicates clearly, works efficiently and understands the realities of running a business.
Our role is to provide the assurance you need while helping you understand what the audit findings mean in practice. We explain issues clearly, highlight areas that may need attention and provide recommendations that are useful beyond the audit file.
We are here to support you with you audit, assurance, internal controls or technical accounting needs.
STATUTORY AND REGULATORY AUDIT
A statutory audit is an independent review of a company’s financial statements. It provides assurance over whether the accounts give a fair view of the company’s financial position and performance, subject to the applicable accounting and auditing framework.
Langtons supports businesses with statutory and regulatory audit requirements, helping directors and finance teams prepare for the audit process, understand what is needed and manage deadlines effectively.
Our audit work is designed to provide confidence over financial reporting while also giving you clear feedback on the issues that matter. We aim to make the audit process structured, proportionate and useful, with communication that helps you understand where your business stands.
RISK MANAGEMENT AND INTERNAL CONTROLS
As a business grows, financial processes often become more complex. Systems, approvals, reporting lines and controls that worked well at an earlier stage may no longer provide the same level of visibility or protection.
Langtons can support businesses with risk management and internal controls reviews. We help identify weaknesses, gaps or inefficiencies in financial processes and explain how these may affect reporting, governance or decision-making.
This may include reviewing controls around income, expenditure, payroll, stock, bank payments, management information, segregation of duties or finance systems. Our aim is to help you strengthen the financial control environment in a practical and commercially realistic way.
TECHNICAL ACCOUNTING ADVISORY
Complex transactions and reporting issues often need careful accounting judgement. Getting the accounting treatment right is important for compliance, but also for clear reporting, stakeholder confidence and future decision-making.
Langtons provides technical accounting advisory support for businesses dealing with more complex accounting matters. This may include practical advice on complex transactions, revenue recognition, group consolidations and business combinations.
We help you understand the accounting implications, consider the relevant reporting requirements and apply them to your circumstances in a clear and practical way. Where issues overlap with tax, corporate finance or wider advisory work, we can help bring the right expertise together.
MANAGEMENT LETTER AND RECOMMENDATIONS
A management letter sets out findings from the audit process, including control weaknesses, reporting issues or practical improvements that management should consider.
Langtons uses the management letter process to provide clear and actionable recommendations. We explain what the finding means, why it matters and what practical steps may help improve the financial reporting environment.
This can support better controls, more reliable information, improved processes and stronger governance. For growing businesses, these recommendations can be particularly valuable as the finance function becomes more complex.

Good audit and assurance support can help you meet your obligations, but it can also provide valuable insight into how your business is operating.
Audit and assurance can help you:
For many business owners, audit is not just about compliance. It is part of building a stronger, more transparent and better-managed business.

Audit often connects with other areas of financial advice. A reporting issue may have tax implications. A transaction may need technical accounting support. A funding process may require stronger financial information. A growing group may need clearer consolidation processes.
Langtons can work alongside your internal finance team, directors, shareholders, legal advisers, funders and other professional contacts where appropriate. We help keep the audit, accounting, tax and commercial considerations connected, so you have clearer advice and fewer gaps between workstreams.
A statutory audit is an independent review of a company’s annual financial statements. The auditor examines financial records, accounting judgements, controls and supporting evidence to provide an opinion on whether the accounts give a fair view, in line with the relevant reporting framework.
A company may need an audit if it meets the statutory audit requirements, forms part of a group, is required to by shareholders, has lender or investor requirements, or operates in a regulated environment. Audit requirements depend on the company’s circumstances and the rules in force at the time.
Audit is a specific form of assurance focused on financial statements and an audit opinion. Assurance is broader and can include other types of independent review designed to give confidence over financial information, systems, controls or specific areas of business activity.
No. While many audits are required for statutory or regulatory reasons, a well-managed audit can also provide practical insight. It can help directors understand the quality of financial reporting, identify control weaknesses, improve processes and provide confidence to stakeholders.
Internal controls are the processes, checks and safeguards a business uses to protect assets, reduce errors, manage risk and support reliable financial reporting. Examples include approval processes, payment controls, reconciliations, segregation of duties and review procedures.
Auditors issue a management letter to communicate findings from the audit process. This may include control weaknesses, process issues, accounting observations or recommendations for improvement. A good management letter should be practical, clear and useful to management.
